Calories in Starbucks Drinks

First, let me say I really like Starbucks. I like the coffee,

I can actually work while I hang out, and the atmosphere is bright and cheery. In fact, the only downside is the calories in Starbucks drinks. Most of the Starbucks calories are from sugar and dairy products high in fat.

And it’s not just the Starbuck drinks. Here’s a good example of what kind of calories from a morning pit stop at Starbucks. If you get a Starbucks Classic Sausage, Egg, and Aged Cheddar Breakfast Sandwich it’s 460 calories and 25 grams of fat. Then wash it down with a Venti White Hot Chocolate, 640 calories and 28 grams of fat.

That’s 1100 calories and 53 grams of fat in a breakfast snack. If you are on the average 2000 per day calorie budget, you just blew through half of it in one snack. so it’s a very good idea to pay attention to the calories in Starbucks drinks and food.

Not to mention the $12-14 it cost. Costly on both sides of the budget. But you don’t have to skip Starbucks, you just have to pay attention to what you choose to eat and drink. Starbucks calories are posted in many of the stores, you just need to check before you order.

If you stick to the Starbucks drinks without cream or flavorings, you drop about 80% of the calories. Skip the sweet or flavored food items (especially any drink with their new white chocolate) and you save about 60% of the calories.

If you like cream in your coffee, ask for the 2% milk. That drops the calories to 70 for a grande size cup of coffee. And it’s only a couple of bucks rather than the more expensive high calorie and fat choices.

So if you pay attention to what is in what you order, you get fewer calories and save money too. Who can argue with that logic? Here’s a list of Starbucks drinks and their calorie counts.

All counts are for the Grande size, the drink name, then the calories, and the amount of fat are listed. These are just guidelines since the mixer can change the number of additives. But it’s a fair representation of the calories and fat.

I never realized Starbucks had so many choices until I made this list from their website. Now they change their offerings every week so this list above is somewhat out of date no matter how often we update it. The Starbucks calories per drinks go from 0 to 640, which is surprising too. Any drink with cream and sugar is going to be over 300 calories. Always check the calories in Starbucks drinks before you order.

But here’s a new list of all Starbucks Drinks that are under 200 calories. Short list but there are some very good selections of different flavors. Two that stand out for being full flavored and low-calorie choices are the Non-Fat Cappuccino and the Skinny Vanilla Latte. And for those of you that think Soy is low calorie, check out the Soy drinks, better than with crčme but still have some serious calories.

If you are a tea drinker, most of the new tea offerings are little if any calories. The calories in Starbucks drinks are largely made up of add in stuff and Green Tea is pretty easy to drink stand alone. Plus there are other good things about the green tea that make it a much better choice. You still get your caffeine and very few if any calories. I’m not really a tea drinker but in the afternoon it’s pretty good and there are some other benefits from Green Tea.

Between the fat content from the dairy products and flavoring, it’s a very good idea to keep an eye on the calories in Starbucks drinks of all kinds. If you pick up an extra 600 calories a week (that’s only couple coffee stops on work days), that’s about a pound a month!
